Tournament Victories and Foreign Trips....

3 years ago By Stefan Rance

The league season may be over but the games don't stop for the Junior teams.....

It has been a busy May for many of the Hampton & Richmond Borough Youth age groups as the Summer Tournament season gets in to full swing.

The Under 12’s travelled to France to take on a range of teams from across the continent including academy teams from French League 3 clubs. As well as securing a top 10 position from the 32 teams taking part with a record of won 7, drew 1 and lost 4 Jake Brown won the Golden Boot for the tournament with 15 goals in his 12 games.

The Under 10’s took two teams to the Spelthorne Sports tournament at the start of May with both teams progressing from the Group Stages. The Colts lost out in the Quarter-Finals to CB Hounslow 1-0 however the Bucks side made it all the way to the final and avenged the Colts defeat with a 7-6 penalty shoot out win after a 2-2 draw during normal time. Ruben Doe top scoring with 5 goals on route to victory

The Under 9’s finished as runners up in the Manorcroft United tournament, after winning 3 and drawing 1 of their group games they knocked out the hosts on route to the final against Woking Town. A tight final finished goalless and the team missed out in the dreaded penalty shoot out losing 4-3. Jake Kaill top scoring with 4 goals.

However the boys soon bounced back as the following week they defeated all comers and were victorious in the NPL tournament in Teddington with 9 wins in 9 games. Having negotiated the group stages they defeated Staines Town 2-1 in the 2nd Round before knocking out two NPL sides by the same 1-0 scoreline in the Quarter and Semi-Finals. They also prevailed 1-0 over Walton Casuals Phoenix in a tight final to bring home the trophy.

The Under 8 Bucks have competed in the Spelthorne and NPL tournaments so far this summer with medals handed out for all the boys who took part. At Spelthorne the team recorded 1 win and 3 draws, with a 2-0 win over Moormead Rovers and three 1-1 draws against Spelthorne Sport Colts, Woking Town and Spelthorne Sports Navy. In the NPL tournament the 6 games yielded 3 wins, 2 draws and a defeat. The victories coming over Moormead with a 4-0 win, Molesey Juniors 1-0 and Heart of Teddlothian also a 1-0 win. Two hard fought 1-1 draws against Esher Navy and Old Isleworthian’s with the only defeat coming in the first game with a 2-1 reverse against Worcester Park Colts.
