Semi-Final Bonanza!

2 years ago By Stefan Rance

Three of the Youth teams have Semi-Finals this weekend, we asked the managers to give us a preview of their games....

Under 15’s Middlesex County Cup Semi Final v AFC Wembley Youth

The Under 15’s have reached the semi-final of the county’s most prestigious tournament and entertain AFC Wembley Youth A who currently sit 3rd in the Harrow & District Premier Division and defeated Ashford Town Colts to get to the semi-final.

Tim Owen & Paul Thomas’s side defeated Spelthorne Sports, Belmont Park Youth, Bessingby Park Rangers and Ruislip Rangers before taking on St Lawrence Academy in the Quarter Final at Kingsfield. To book their place in tomorrow’s semi-final they scored two goals in the final 5 minutes through Tom Adams and Theo Clayton. In all their games so far they have scored 24 and conceded just 2.

Kick off is 10.30am at Kingsfield, Church Grove, Hampton Wick and all supporters are welcome

Under 13’s League Cup Semi Final v Sandgate

The Under 13’s route to the semi-final started on 20th September with a 12-0 win over G4G with Jake Brown hitting 6 goals. In the next round Shelton Colts were dispatched 6-0 under the flight path of Biggin Hill airport. Although Jake got another 5 goals man of the match with a great performance from Ben O’Reilly.

The 3rd round saw a home time against Claygate Royals and another resounding win as the team rattled 7 in without reply. Joe Grieco netted 2 with further goals for Jake Brown, Elis Pringle, Ben O’Reilly, Liam O’Callaghan and a debut goal from Ronnie Girvan.

The Quarter final was away to South Park and this was a much tighter game with the boys have to work really hard to secure passage to tomorrow’s semi-final. The host’s took the lead against the run of play before Jake equalised, we then took the lead with a great team goal involving Ellis Pringle and Jake Brown which ended with Cameron Shawyer slotting the ball home. On the stroke of half time South Park equalised. In the second half we saw an inspired performance byt the home keeper but finally Connor Wright slipped the ball in to Jake who made it 3-2 and with 5 minutes to go Ellis made it safe with a 4th goal.

This Sunday 7th February 2016 at home cup Semi Final against Sandgate, an largely unknown team who have just arrived in the Surrey Youth league & so far this season remain undefeated. Lets hope the boys can keep up the great performances & look forward to a victory & achieving a cup final in May.

Squad (Lewis Rees, Charlie Rew, Joao Guimaraes, Connor Wright, Nairn Herries, Adam Zibani, Archie Mils, Ben O'reilly, Liam O'Callaghan, Cameron Shawyer, Joe Grieco, Ronnie Girvan, Ellis Pringle, Jake Brown, Josh Shayesteh, Matthew Newbury)

Under 14 Girls League Cup Semi-Final v Ascot Diamonds

On Sunday the HRBFC U14 Girls are playing against Ascot Diamonds in their first ever Cup semi-final.

The path to the semis has been relatively straightforward, including a 9-3 win over local rivals Molesey in the 2nd round. However, the biggest challenge (and indeed their most impressive performance) was an extra-time victory over Premier League side Crystal Palace in the quarter finals.

Whatever the result on Sunday, it’s been a real achievement to get this far and a great season overall; having stepped up a level from last year, the girls are currently sitting in 2nd in the Surrey County League Division 1 and with 6 games still left to play there’s an outside chance of promotion.

In other action this weekend our Under 17’s, managed by Russ Clark, have a Cup Quarter final against Byfleet Village and the Under 18’s have their Cup Semi-Final in 3 weeks time. With several of our younger age groups also making good runs in the Cup and in contention for promotion it promises to be a very exciting run in for the Youth section
