Magic 6 for Hampton's Super Ladies
H+R Ladies put 6 past Denham keeping them 3 points clear at top of the league!
Sunday saw the Ladies team take to the pitch at the Beveree looking to continue their unbeaten league run and stay 3 points clear at the top of the league. With a full 16 players to choose from, boss Leah Ambridge was looking forward to the game ahead. With Hampton winning 7-0 the first time the teams met, the same score line would be the aim for this fixture.
The Beavers came out of the start gate all guns blazing going 3-0 up within the first 21minutes. The first coming on 6minutes from Louise Clarke who crossed the ball for Terri Harper to slot the ball in from 4 yards out. The second came from Louise Clarke on the 12th minute. Some great play down the right wing saw Bianca Underhill flick on a Kim Duffin cross, Lou met the ball with a header which hit the back of the net. Another goal followed soon after on the 21st minute, Katie Foster found herself with a bit of space just outside the box. With little room to maneuver, Kate turned the defender and hit a screamer with her left foot that flew over the keepers head. That wasn’t it for the Beavers in the first half, on the 41st minute Lou Clarke found some space down the left wing to go on a solo run. Lou slid the ball in along the 6yard box to find Bianca Underhill in space to tap the ball in past the keeper.
4-0 at half time the Beavers looked comfortable in the game with the attacking force shining through but with the back found staying strong giving Emma Marlow very little to do in goal. The second meant more success for Hampton however they did make it look difficult and should have probably scored more than they did.
The 5th goal came from a corner ball played into the area, some sloppy Denham defending allowed the ball to fall to the feet of Sharna Longville who was full of confidence to slot the ball into the goal to make it 5-0. The sixth and final goal came on the 80th minute when Emily Hogg was chopped down 23 yards out from goal giving Hampton a great free kick opportunity. Up stepped Kee Kee Kobus who struck the ball like a pro hitting the cross bar and then the net leaving the Denham keeper helpless.
This performance was a great team performance showing the strength and ability the Ladies team have at the moment. Having 5 top quality subs on the bench could make Leah’s job slightly more difficult but with the top spot and promotion in sight the team will continue to work hard to get their hands on that league title. Next week the team face Chobham Burymead who are currently 2nd in the league. This will be a vital game for both teams but with the unbeaten run continuing, our fate is in our own hands.
