Robins beaten by Beavers in another high scoring game.
Sunday 16th saw the Ladies Team beat Carshalton Athletic Res by a great 6-1 win which sees the Beavers continue their unbeaten league run.
With the Beveree’s pitch taking a battering from the rain and the first team in action at home Saturday, the ladies team were forced to move there game to Deckers Sports Ground in Tolworth for this tie. The two sides have already met this season with the Beavers coming up trumps with a 7-2 score line but with this game due to be a Home match the Beavers were looking to continue there unbeaten league run in this game. The side were helped by their new volunteer team physio Lauren before the game to look over nay injuries and prepare the girls for the game. This game saw the comeback of Katie Foster in her first start for the team since 28th September and also saw Becky Payne back after being out for 3 weeks.
The game started well for the Beavers with Hayley Lyon opening the score line within 9mins of the first half. The ball fell to Hayley’s feet after some great play down the right wing from Lou Clarke, Hayley struck the ball with her left foot into the bottom left corner leaving the Robins Keeper stranded. Hampton’s second came on the 25th minute from a fantastic cross from Fran Acharya on the left wing which found Lou Clarke on the back post to slot the ball into the net. The Hampton side looked extremely strong with the defensive back four looking solid as per normal and keeper Emma Marlow commanding the ball in her box. At half time Hampton were 2-0 and with manager Leah Ambridge handing over some pointers for the midfield the Beavers were looking to capitalise in the 2nd half by playing downhill on a very steep pitch.
The second half saw the Beavers bring on Kee Kee Kobus, bringing Katie Foster off to rest her ankles. Kee Kee made an immediate effect on the game by heading the ball into the back of the net from a Kim Duffin corner on the 47th minute. The half time team talk from Leah must have done the trick as Kee Kee came up trumps again on the 55th minute by getting on the end of a Kerry Celino pass through the Robins back four and sliding the ball to the right of the Carshalton Keeper. 4-0 and Hampton were looking comfortable with the ball and even when the rain began to fall Hampton continue to play some great football and were always looking for the next opportunity to score. Carshalton managed to pull one back on 62nd minute when the striker hit a sweet ball that Emma got a finger tip to but couldn’t keep out. Not letting their heads go down, Hampton began to put Carshalton on the back foot once more and the 5th goal came shortly after. Kerry once again slid a ball through the Robin’s back four which found Becky Payne who slid the ball to the side of the keeper in a rare but spot on finish for Becky who has been out with a knee injury. The 6th goal came from Hayley Lyon who perfectly controlled the Keeper’s goal kick and with her 2nd touch slotted the ball into the bottom left corner making the final score 6-1 to the Beavers!
This game was another fantastic team performance from the Hampton Ladies team and see’s them 2nd in the league with only 2 points behind Chobham, who we are due to play on 23rd November at the Bev. Manager Leah Ambridge was happy with the performance saying; “this was another strong, solid team performance from start to finish. The Ladies worked hard as a team and their commitment from the first to final whistle is faultless”.
