Robins beaten by Beavers in 9 goal game!

H+R Ladies Beat Carshalton Res 7-2 in Leah's first game in charge!

With the game being reversed due to the state of the pitch at the Bev Hampton Ladies were forced to play Carshalton Ath Reserves at their ground in Mitcham. The team realised this would be a difficult game with a few players missing due to injury but were in a very positive frame of mind with a very productive training session with new manager Leah behind them.

The game started at a very high pace with the Beavers taking the lead within 3 mins of kick off, Lou C getting her first of the game after some great passing in midfield sent her storming through the defence slotting the ball past the keeper. Lou C's second came shortly after on the 6th min when keeper Emma picked the ball up and launched it down field clearing all Carshalton players and straight into the feet of Lou who took one touch and slotted it past the Carshalton keeper. Carshalton then pulled a goal back, one lapse of concentration from Hampton’s back four let the Robins striker through to slot the ball past Emma with a curling strike.

Hampton’s third came from a 20 yard half volleyed screamer from Captain Lisa which dipped over the keeper and into the top right hand corner. Hampton looked extremely strong and was not letting Carshalton get any passes in through the middle of the park. This closing down paid off when Lisa won the ball in centre mid to slot the ball neatly through the back four for Kee Kee to place the ball into the bottom left corner, 22mins gone and the Beavers are 4-1 up. Not sitting back on this score line Hampton pressed again with Lou C breaking through the back four once again to see herself one on one with the keeper, Lou took the goal like a pro chipping the ball over the Carshalton keeper. 5-1 up Hampton were still not finished Lou C got her fourth and Hamptons sixth on the 28th minute, once again Hampton playing some excellent football in the middle of the park putting Lou in on the keeper again, once again she slotted the ball to the keepers right and looked as through this game could be done and dusted within 30mins.

The 37th minute saw Lou C get her fifth goal and Hampton’s 7th by placing the ball into the back of the net in a cool manner like her others. 7-1 Hampton looked in control with all players working at a high pace and not letting Carshalton play the ball in the middle of the park. The second half saw Hampton sit back a little but with chances still to come. Keeping Carshalton on the back foot Lou H managed to get a shot off at the edge of the Robin’s area, narrowly missing with only the post getting in her way. Kerry also had two chances to extend the lead only narrowly missing the target. Carshalton pulled one back on the 70th minute with a one on one with Emma. Emma suffered an injury during this attack and was forced to leave the field with Kerry taking her place in goal for the last 20mins.

Despite the game finishing 7-2 Hampton played excellent football all over the pitch, the strikers scoring lots of goals but the defence and midfield also supporting keeping a very strong defensive line which Carshalton could not break down. This was Leah’s first official game in charge of the team and it showed how a fantastic training session and a positive influence can change the dynamic and attitude of all players.

Next week the Ladies travel to play London Phoenix and will be looking to build on the success of this brilliant win.
