Comfortable victory for Beavers
Hampton take three points against Whitehawk without being really stretched at a cold Enclosed Ground
Keeping essentially the same line up as faced Poole, save for the introduction of Duncan Culley in place of Christian Jolley, the Beavers looked comfortable against a somewhat limited Hawks line up.
In spite of that, the hosts had the first real chance as Mills headed just wide on 15 minutes, and Akanbi's shot earned a corner off a deflection.
Duncan Culley, playing against his former club, couldn't convert Shamir Mullings' hard work on 20 minutes, the shot going wide..
Just before the half hour, the Beavers suffered a body blow as Josh Casey went down and stayed down, and after some 5 minutes treatment, had to be helped off, with what is thought could be ankle ligament damage. His replacement was Michael Kamara, and his presence on the field had a profound impact on the game.
Just before the interval, Harold Odametey's cross come shot almost deceived Hawks keeper Lucas Covolan, who could only tip it over the bar.
From the corner, it went to the back post; Covolan couldn't hold onto the ball, and Kamara was there to bundle the ball into the net.
The Beavers kept pressing, and deep into the 4 minutes added, won another corner after a mistake by Covolan. The cross came out to [Kamara, his flick at goal from 15 yards was missed by every red shirt and the keeper as well to nestle in the back of the net.
Just before the hour, Kamara's header just went wide, and it was clear the defender fancied the hat-trick, but the Beavers 3rd goal, when it arrived, was simple yet deadly.
Brendan Kiernan chased a pass into the corner; gathering the ball, he turned and sent the perfect cross into the box. Rising highest, Shamir Mullings met the cross almost unmarked and powered the header past Covolan into the net.
It looked game over, but Hampton couldn't keep the clean sheet. On 76 minutes, Danny Mills threaded a header past Howes and into the net to give the Hawks a brief glimmer of hope.
That was all it was and Hampton withstood some late pressure to depart with 3 points, at the possible of cost of Josh Casey, who may miss the rest of the season as a result of his injury.
