Beavers away run beached at Concord
The away unbeaten run fell to the Beachboys despite Jamal Lowe's 15th goal of the season.
Dowse was forced into a change at the back with Kieran Murphy returning to the centre of defense as Michael Kamara served a one game suspension for his dismissal against Royston Town last week.
The Beavers made a bright start despite the penetrating cold breeze gusting across the ground and on 11 minutes, they created the first chance as Jamal Lowe cracked in a nice shot from the edge of the box that Beachboys keeper Bailey Vose had to dive for and push away for a corner.
Just a couple of minutes later, Nicke Kabamba managed to hit a shot on the turn from close range that Vose had to block instinctively. It was looking as if the first goal would not be far away for a confident Hampton side.
However, when the goal came, it wasn't for the Beavers. A cross from the Beachboys' Sam Collins from the right looked to be simplicity itself to clear, but Tom Jelley's header didn't go in the direction he planned, and the ball bounced gently past a flat-footed Grainger and into the net to give the hosts an unexpected lead.
Hampton immediately got back on the front foot and Kiernan's close range attempt on the turn was saved by the home keeper, who was definitely kept the busier.
Just before the break, the Beavers had a good chance from a Casey free kick on the edge of the box. The attempt beat the wall, and Vose had to throw himself full length to get a hand on the ball; Christian Jolley was following up but he couldn't react quick enough to direct the shot on target and it bounced off him for a goal kick.
After the break, the Beavers went back on in a positive mood, but it was soon dented.
Concord's right back Rob Girdlestone charged down the wing and his cross into the box was right in the corridor between keeper and back four; Jordan Chiedozie was just able to find the speed to beat Grainger to the ball to divert it into the net.
The 2 goal lead didn't last long as just before the hour mark, Hampton got one back. Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick's cross from the right finally found its way to a lurking Jamal Lowe and the on form striker made no mistake from close range for his 15th league goal of the season.
The Beavers sensed they were not out of this yet and piled on the pressure as they were not about to let their unbeaten away run go without a fight.
On 68 minutes, Nicke Kabamba crashed a thunderous volley from just inside the box which gave the bar an almighty rattling, the ball bouncing down in front of the line but there was no one close enough to tap the ball into the net, nor a Russian linesman to give a goal.
Two minutes later, Brendan Kiernan's powerful header also bounced off the bar as the Beachboys were having to hold off some determined Hampton pressure.
As the match dashed closer to its end, the Beavers reverted to a desperate long ball tactic, lifting the ball long towards Kabamba, which was never going to trouble the Concord defenders and so it proved as the hosts held on for only their third home win of the season.
