Beavers stay second as Darts blunted

Hampton stay in 2nd place in the Vanarama National League South with a very conclusive 4-1 home victory over Dartford.

On a perfect afternoon for football, the Beavers tore right into the Darts and put them on the back foot from the off and it wasn't long before Nicke Kabamba and Jamal Lowe had chances on goal.

The opening goal on 8 minutes had a massive slice of luck as Christian Jolley chased down a through ball; Dartford keeper Deran Ibrahim's powerfully struck clearance struck Christian squarely on the side of the head and knocked him to the ground, the ball rebounding off him into the net.

When the striker finally got to his feet, he looked so dazed and shaken; he tried to carry on but was substituted on 23 minutes.

By then, the score was 1-1 as Danny Harris had scored for the Darts as it appeared an Aaron Howe punch clear had struck him, the ball looping up and into the net to give the visitors a goal their had scarcely earned.

Just after Christian was substituted, the Beavers regained the lead. A Josh Casey free kick into the box was met by a deft Michael Kamara flick, and Ibrahim was unable to react in time to stop it.

Hampton continued to press and on 35 minutes, they extended the lead. Jamal Lowe was causing no end of trouble on the flanks for the full back, his driven cross from the bye-line on this occasion was missed by the keeper, and defender Tom Bonner inadvertently pushed the ball into the back of the net from close range.

10 minutes into the second half, the Beavers made it 4. Nicke Kabamba managed to create a morsel of room at the top of the area, his shot was then deflected up into the air, leaving Ibrahim grasping at straws as it looped into the net.

Hampton nearly had a 5th just after the hour as Kamara deflected a Casey free kick into the net for a second time, but on this occasion, he drew the assistant's offside flag.

Jamal Lowe was still hunting for his 7th goal of the season, and on 64 minutes, looked to have a great chance as Harold Odametey set him up with a great pass through, but Ibrahim was up to it and blocked the shot from just inside the area.

Dartford were looking right out of sorts, and Ofori-Acheampong came closest to livening them up with 20 minutes to go, but his header was over the bar, giving Howe no trouble.

The Beavers were controlling the game by now, and ran the game out leaving them comfortable winners.
