Beavers hold off Farnborough to keep 3rd
Hampton returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Farnborough and kept hold of 3rd position.
The Beavers began in a positive frame of mind from the off and put early pressure on the visitors as Dean Sinclair's ball to Kabamba saw the striker fire in a shot which saw Pearce having to be brave to block before Jerome Federico hit the rebound wide.
Hampton thought they had taken the lead on 9 minutes as Jamal Lowe had the ball in the back of the net, but it was ruled out by the referee, for what looked like a shirt pull in the build up.
8 minutes later, the Beavers did grab the lead, as the referee decided there was a deliberate handball in the box by a Farnborough player, much to everyone's bemusement. Kabamba stepped up and calmly sent Minter the wrong way, slipping the ball into the corner of the net, breaking the team's poor run with spot kicks.
Hampton kept pressing and Kabamba had another decent chance, just after the half hour, getting in behind the defence, but once again Minter blocked the shot and saved his team from going further behind.
Just before the break, Minter had to rescue Farnborough once more as Jerome Federico used his pace to get in behind Grant, the keeper spreading himself to block the shot from 15 yards.
Into the second half and the Beavers continued going forwards with some style. Just before the hour mark, Brendan Kiernan played in Nicke Kabamba, whose shot was saved by Minter for another corner.
10 minutes later, the Kiernan-Kabamba combination was on show again but they were denied again by Minter narrowing the angle and blocking Nicke's shot once more.
Farnborough started to get themselves back into the game and on 73 minutes, made the Beavers regret not being able to take the chances they'd created.
Defender Freddie Grant gathered the ball outside the angle of the box, and with nothing to lose, curled an exquisitely placed shot across George Legg and into the top corner of the net.
This stung the Beavers into life and just 3 minutes later, Brendan Kiernan lashed the ball low past Minter from the edge of the box to restore the lead.
Although the Beavers held the lead, Farnborough still looked like they hadn't given up hope, but with just a couple of minutes left, a Dean Sinclair corner was met at the near post by Kabamba, who headed home from close range to make sure of the points.
