Hampton left blue by Wingate

No joy for Beavers in home start to season
It was a night that the Beavers had been hoping to make a winning start to the season in but defensive lapses let Wingate & Finchley snatch two quick goals to pluck the points from Hampton's grasp.
The Beavers had a lot of the early play but all they had to show was Eddie Hutchinson's flicked header that smacked against the angle of post and bar from Ryan Newman's free kick with just 17 minutes on the board.
Just before the half hour, Nicke Kebamba could've the one to open the scoring as Charlie Moone chased down a ball into the corner; his first time cross was met with an instinctive touch by the on-loan striker, but it flew straight at keeper Bobby Smith and the chance was lost.
Wingate were not really troubling Seb Brown before this point but they sprang into life 60 seconds later as Karl Olyide fired from the edge of the box, which forced Brown into a smart stop.
5 minutes before the break, Wingate broke through once more with Rob Laney creating a one-on-one with Brown but amazingly he stabbed the shot wide.
60 seconds later, it was Hampton who broke the deadlock. Charlie Moone managed to thread a pass through the Wingate defence, and following through was Dean Sinclair and he just managed to lift the ball in the net over Smith before the keeper to get to it.
It was nearly two for the Beavers early in the second half as Nicke Kabamba looked to have slid the ball home from a Moone shot, but the official deemed he was offside and the Beavers would later rue that decision mightily.
Just before the hour, the visitors were pressing but not really threatening too closely until a loose ball ricocheted to Karl Olyide off a Hampton leg; despite the close attention of Moussa Diarra, the striker held off the challenge and prodded the ball into the net off the post.
3 minutes later, Wingate had the lead they would hold to. A defensive header from a corner didn't go far enough and Rifat Ahmed stepped up and clipped a crisp half-volley through a crowded penalty area and past Brown.
Wingate stepped up the pressure and made life tough for the home lads but on 75 minutes, Charlie Moone looked to have created a good chance to level the score but his shot from the edge of the box was eaily stopped by Smith.
As the visitors eased off a touch, the Beavers tried to force the issue but the nearest they came was with just a handful of minutes left, Moussa Diarra connected with a firm header which Smith had to claw away to safety.
With seconds remaining in the time added by the referee, the Beavers won a corner, and sent Seb Brown upfield, but Wingate held firm and took all three points.
