Diarra double delights Dowse
The Beavers cut loose in the second half to register their biggest win of the season, over a clearly nervous Canvey Island team.
Hampton came out of the blocks quickest in the spring sunshine and Ryan Newman nearly opened the scoring on 18 minutes with a well taken free kick that Canvey keeper Tim Brown had to reach and palm over.
The Gulls nearly took the lead on 34 minutes as Jack Simmons' shot on the spin forced a smart save from Seb Brown, but the Beavers took their chance just a few minutes later.
After Duncan Culley's cheeky attempt from point blank range was pushed wide of the post, Ryan Newman's corner from the right was met by a charging Moussa Diarra, his powerful header from close range gave Brown no chance.
Canvey nearly got an equaliser just before the break as Harrison Chatting beat the offside trap to round Brown, but his run took him very wide, and the shot hit the post.
After half time, the Beavers further imposed themselves on the game and just 5 minutes in, the game was over.
The Canvey defence was struggling with defending set pieces, Newman's free kick was met once again by Diarra, and his header beat Brown to put the Beavers two goals to the good.
The Beavers were now rampant and on 67 minutes the game was taken further away from Canvey as Charlie Moone beat Brown to a long ball, and after collecting the ball, calmly side footed it into an empty net.
There was now no way back for the Gulls and Jerome Federico twisted the knife further as his long range drive on 75 minutes found out Brown and went underneath the young keeper and into the net.
Duncan Culley had been working manfully upfront with Moone but on 86 minutes, he turned saviour as he got back to clear a George Sykes attempt off the line to preserve the clean sheet and take another giant step closer to confirming the Beavers place in the Ryman Premier league next season.
