Beavers stalled in Leiston fields.
The Beavers fine run of form came to an abrupt halt on the fields of Suffolk, as Leiston proved more clinical in front of goal, scoring in each half.
Alan Dowson was able to field an unchanged side at Victory Road, with George Wells returning to the squad and Jerome Federico replacing Paris Mason on the bench.
The Beavers started out passing the ball well and looking in control but this was derailed on 10 minutes as Leiston took the lead with a goal that had an element of fortune about it.
Joe Francis was already giving James Richmond trouble, and on reaching the edge of the box, the winger fired in a shot that hit the defender. The ricochet fell to the feet of forward Darren Mills and his accurate shot from 18 yards beat Mark Smith inside his left hand post.
Julian Owusu managed to strike a shot at Danny Gay a couple of minutes later, and then Ben Hunt's attempt on the quarter hour proved fruitless as the Beavers continued to pass the ball around.
Just after the half hour, the Blues looked to have created a gilt-edged opening as Tom Winter broke through the Hampton defence; one on one with Mark Smith, the keeper managed to block the shot with his legs and the ball bounced clear.
The Beavers were trying to play a passing game on a pitch that really didn't lend itself to it, but on 42 minutes, a cross from the left found Owusu just get in front of the defender, his header just having too much on it as it looped over the bar.
As the break loomed, Matty Drage picked up a slightly overhit Simmonds corner at the angle of the box and struck a powerful shot which was somehow deflected over the bar.
Early in the second half, the weather started to become more wintry and through the snow, Jerome Federico - on for Julian Owusu - started to get into the game, his cross come shot from the right forced keeper Gay to back pedal very quickly and tip the ball onto the bar.
However, just after the hour, the Blues extended their advantage. Darren Mills' header, while in space between the defenders, saw Smith have to push the ball for a corner. The corner found Joe Jefford some 10 yards out, and despite the frantic clearance attempts on the line to hack the header clear, the goal was awarded.
On 70 minutes, the Beavers won a corner. The ball came loose, and Matt Drage chased the defender down out of the box and appeared to have made a fair tackle to retrieve the ball. However, referee Steel, to everyone's shock and surprise, immediately brandished the red card for a challenge that many - both locals and Beavers - thought worthy of not much more than a yellow.
Drage's dismissal forced Hampton to play 3 defenders at the back and the team started to create some chances. On 85 minutes, James Simmonds chested down a clearance from the Leiston defence and immediately struck a half volley that Gay had to be alert to block and clear.
Leiston, by now, had decided to stick with what they had but they nearly let the Beavers in for a consolation goal in the second minute of 7 added at the end of the half. Tom Collins managed to get a cross into the box, being a bit long Federico nodded it back to the feet of Charlie Moone, but this time, the striker wasn't able to get the attempt on target and it went wide.
For all of the Beavers neat passing, they eventually suffered from a lack of a clinical finish in front of goal. Hopefully they can recover this in Tuesday night's Robert Dyas League Cup game against Hendon, played at Harrow Borough's Earlsmead ground.
