No day at beach for Beavers in Bognor
The Beavers suffered their second 3-0 defeat this week with a disjointed display against an rather average Bognor Regis team.
In truth, the Rocks returning on-loan striker Jason Prior proved to be the difference between the teams, converting chances where the Beavers couldn't.
The Beavers created the first chance, on 14 minutes as Tashan Adeyinka released Luke Wanadio on the right; his cross into the box found Ben Osman, whose volley flashed wide of the post.
Neither team looked high on confidence and Harvey Whyte for the hosts could only fire his shot at Jack Norton just before the half hour.
Two minutes later, the Rocks took a slightly fortuitous lead as Prior's header across goal skidded off the back of a Hampton head, which lifted the ball enough to beat the goal line challenges and fall into the net.
Luke Wanadio created a decent chance for Charlie Moone on 37 minutes, after the young wide player had picked up a quickly taken free kick on the right. The pass to Moone left him with his back to goal but the shot on the turn was easily saved by Winterton by his left hand post.
After the interval, neither team looked like they could create anything in front of goal, but on 57 minutes, the game was broken wide open.
A long ball over the top had Prior chasing downfield, Norton dashed out but he completely misjudged the bounce and could only get a faint touch to the bouncing ball. It ran on and Prior was able to gather the ball just by the bye-line, he had enough time to regain his balance and lift the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.
Bognor were controlling the game now, and despite Dowse bringing on Paris Mason for Tashan Adeyinka, the Rocks were in to mood to let the Beavers back into the match and on 77 minutes, they killed it.
Substitute Da Costa's cross from the right was met by Prior and his first time volley from the left side of the area flew past Norton for the striker's hat-trick.
