Tonbridge result not Angelic for Beavers
The Beavers ran foul of the weather and the Angels as they couldn't make much impression on the Kent side, losing 2-0.
In steady rain, neither side looked too certain of their footing but on 8 minutes, Jerome Federico looked to have got in at the near post but his attempt was cleared, and with Tommy Brewer chasing up, the Angels whacked the ball clear.
The Beavers created 2 half chances in quick sucession midway through the half as first Charlie Moone had a shot blocked by Lawrence Ball and then Karle Carder almost got on the end of a Paris Mason cross, but it ran into the side netting.
The Angels finally found their bearings on the half hour as Okojie pulled a shot wide after taking advantage of a George Wells mistake, then just three minutes later Billy Medlock forced a decent save from Jack Norton, the ball going wide for a corner.
In the early minutes of the second half, the Beavers were so close to taking the lead as Billy Jeffreys created trouble for the home side, his header looked to be going in but an Angel on the line managed to get his body in the way and it was scrambled clear. Just 2 minutes later, it was one up to the hosts as Billy Medlock turned in James Folkes' deflected cross at the back post, although Norton and the defence felt the striker was lurking the wrong side of Tommy Brewer.
The Beavers were still creating chances and down the right, Jerome Federico was giving both Jack Partner and his replacement Ben King a hard time with his pace; on the hour, a sniping cross from the winger had to be pushed clear frantically by keeper Merson from in front of the lurking Moone. 5 minutes later, Charlie Moone's shot forced Merson to dive to his left to hold onto the near post shot. On 67 mins, once again it was Federico with the cross and Jesse Kewley-Graham's volley went just over.
With 20 minutes left, and bathed in bright sunshine, Charlie Moone looked as if he might get something yet out of the game for the Beavers but his shot went wide of the post.
The visitors were made to pay for not converting any of the chances 5 minutes later, as Medlock chased down a long ball into the Beavers box. Jack Norton ran out to grab the ball, but it cannoned off his hands, and the striker sidefooted home from an acute angle for the winner.
