Beavers Copped at Imber Court

Disappointing night for the Possibles

A HEADED goal by Harry Crawford in the last ten minutes was not enough to save an experimental-looking Beavers side from a 3-1 defeat at Imber Court on Thursday night in the latest pre-season friendly.

Hampton had a chance to save the game when the referee generously awarded a penalty for a foul on substitute Harrison Livingstone, one of the stars of last season’s Under-18 side. However, Ryan Moss rolled his spot-kick into the midriff of the Police goalkeeper.

The Mets then added a third from a free-kick to seal a comfortable victory.

Dowse fielded the players who did not start the Middlesex Senior Cup victory on Tuesday plus an assortment of triallists. The other players trained on an adjoining pitch before watching the second half.

Midfielder Crawford and defender Tom Jelley were Hampton’s best players, but no-one else did enough to give the manager food for thought as he fills the last few spaces in his National League squad.

The game was effectively decided by two unanswered Police goals in the first 15 minutes, the second a long-range effort from former Beaver Tom Hickey. The Police also included Jay Gasson from our squad of last season.

Hampton: Bishop; Jelley, Kamara, Gallagher, Chinua Cole, Federico, Emiliano Hysi, Crawford, Nathan Mavila, Trey Williams and Culley.

There were substitute appearances after the break for Alex Stephenson, Jordan Ireland, Tom Peel, Livingstone and Moss.
