Ahead of tomorrow’s big FA Trophy tie with Maidstone United, the club can confirm the arrival of another new player - and a new kick-off time.
And it’s another goalkeeper, and it’s another one on loan from Brentford. Richard Lee has registered in time for the match on Saturday.
With Seb Brown leaving to sign for Wingate & Finchley last week, the Beavers needed another option in that department – and Alan Dowson called in another favour from the Bees.
Mark Smith extended his loan earlier in the week and the boss is pleased with the way his squad is shaping up ahead of a busy Christmas period.
The game has been brought forward from 3pm and will now start an hour earlier because of floodlight issues.
He said: “We’re getting closer to where we need to be, we’ve always said every player needs to have pressure put on him and that goalkeeping area is the most important.
“We can’t wait for this weekend’s game. We need to get playing, it seems like ages – three games called off when you want to be out there on the pitch is hard to handle, but we’re hoping to make up for lost time.
“Maidstone are a top team and they deservedly won our league last season. They have settled in superbly to the National League South, so we know we will have to be at our very best again in the FA Trophy.
“We’re at home, so we have a good chance. We’ve performed well so far in this competition and we’re desperate to carry that on.”
The winning team banks a cheque for £4,000 and take their place in Monday’s first round draw.
