Sir Vince is no stranger to The Beveree and attends matches when his duties as our local MP and leader of the Liberal Democrat Party allow.
His predecessor in the ambassadorial role was former chairman Bob Hayes, who died in the summer.
Current chairman Graham Wood said: “We wanted someone to carry the message about our club into the wider community and, as a supporter of The Beavers and a widely-admired figure, Vince is ideally placed. We can think of no-one better to represent us.”
The Beavers are looking to expand their Patrons Club under Sir Vince’s leadership.
“We always look forward to his visits and he seems to thoroughly enjoy watching the team
whenever he can,” added Graham.
“It’s a largely ceremonial position but an important one nonetheless and we were keen to fill it with the right person as soon as we could.”
