Concord keeper Sam Beasant talks to the Beavers ahead of Saturday's clash

By HRBFC Press Team

Hampton fan James talks to the experienced stopper to gather his thoughts before the Beach Boys head to the Jezzards Beveree.

How would you reflect on the current season with eight games to go, both collectively as a team and as an individual?

It’s been good. Compared to where Concord finished last year (Concord finished in 17th place), we have done great. Unfortunately, we got the three-point deduction and it was a real kick in the teeth.

Do you still believe Concord have the ability to make the playoffs this season?

We have made it difficult for ourselves but until it is mathematically impossible, we will still believe.

What do you put your recent unbeaten streak down to over the past nine games?

It’s nice to be on an unbeaten run but we would have preferred a lot more wins than the number of draws we have had (Concord have drawn in seven of their last nine league fixtures).

What has been your career highlight so far?

My personal highlight would have to be making my league debut and keeping a clean sheet (Beasant made his League Two debut in 2014 with Stevenage, being picked ahead of veteran keeper Chris Day, keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 home victory against Hartlepool United).

Best player played with/against?

I played in an England legends and celebrity game with Ian Wright so will have to be him, or Alex Wall ha. I also played against Gary Speed in the same game, and Andy Carroll.

What challenges do you expect from the HRBFC side? What are your memories of facing Hampton in previous competitions/fixtures?

I played with Chris Dickson last season and even though people will say he is well past it and should have retired 5 years ago, he can still produce a bit of magic every now and then. He is a great lad and I am looking forward to seeing him!

I have good memories at the time from the reverse fixture at our place (in in which Concord won 4-0, although the result was later declared void after the fielding of an illegible player). The only time I have played here was last season with Chelmsford where we drew 1-1 to a late equaliser which was disappointing, but I played well so hopefully I can do the same today!
