Hampton & Richmond tonight have the sad duty to inform supporters that joint managers Paul Barry and Darren Powell have resigned.
Following the 3-2 defeat in the FA Cup against VCD Athletic, the management duo decided they had taken the club as far as they could.
It has been a poor start to the season which sees the Beavers in the bottom four. Defensive issues have not helped, letting in 28 goals in our first ten matches - with home results especially very poor.
Paul informed chairman Steve McPherson of his decision after today's defeat.
Steve paid tribute to the pair following their decision to fall on their sword - and informed fans that the search for our next manager has already begun.
McPherson said: "I took a call earlier this evening from Paul Barry and he explained his decision to me. It was not nice a nice conversation to have as we as a board have only good things to say about them both.
"I feel that the fact that they have come to this decision speak volumes for them both. They could have continued but for the good of the club they want to allow another manager the opportunity to come in try to turn things around.
"For that, they need enormous credit. They will both be welcome at Hampton & Richmond any time.
"I feel tonight the players need to be asking themselves some tough questions. Their performances have not help and I feel they have left themselves and Paul and Darren down at times.
"Supporters should rest assured that we have already begun the search for a new manager, but this evening is about offering our thanks and best wishes to Paul and Darren."
