Titans Come to Beveree

London TitansHampton & Richmond Borough FC and London Titans FC are delighted to announce that London Titans will be playing some of their home games at the Beveree this season.

Founded in 2005 London Titans have become one of the foremost gay football clubs in the country. They participate in the Gay Football Supporters Network (GFSN) National League (the only national gay football league in the world) and play against teams from as far north as Edinburgh and Newcastle and as far south as Cardiff, Bournemouth and Brighton.  Titans also have two teams in the London Unity Football League.  In September 2007 the Titans competed in their first International Gay and Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA) World Championships, held in Argentina, entering two teams, the 1st team reaching the Division 2 Final before losing out to West Hollywood in a penalty shootout.  Since then Titans have entered two teams in similar tournaments held in Washington DC earlier this year and London in 2008.  In fact one of the Titans sides won the Fair Play award at London, a fact that the Club is very proud of.   Last summer Titans were one of the few British clubs to compete at the Euro Games held in Barcelona. Titans also played in tournaments held in Reykjavik and Prague as well as numerous tournaments held around the UK.

London Titans Chairman Andy Turner said: ‘These are exciting times for London Titans Football Club.  The Club has advanced so much in the past 12 months, our membership has doubled, enabling us to run two teams in the London Unity Football League and we were the only British Club to enter two teams in this years IGLFA World Championships. I am delighted we are able to use the Beveree for some of our home matches this season, the facilities here are first class, the pitch is superb and the people are really friendly.  This arrangement with Hampton & Richmond Borough FC can only enhance both Clubs involvement in both the local gay community and south west London as a whole.’

Speaking about the arrival of the Titan’s, Hampton & Richmond Director Marc Cranfield-Adams said: ‘This is an excellent bit of news for both the Titans and the Borough’s premier football club. We are delighted to welcome the Titans to the Beveree and hope that they have a long and successful relationship with the club. We are working hard to make Hampton & Richmond Borough Football Club a true community club and by adding the Titans to our list of sporting partners we feel that it increases our diversity and shows our commitment to other sporting clubs within the Borough.’

Hampton & Richmond Borough’s first team currently play in the Blue Square South and are managed by ex West Ham United and England player Alan Devonshire.  Last season they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Blue Square National, losing in play-offs after finishing as close runners up to Champions AFC Wimbledon.  The club also includes a Women’s side in the Greater London League, an Under 18 side in the Ryman Youth League and 10 Junior teams playing in the Surrey Boys League and Tanbridge Youth League’s.

The Titans first game at The Beveree took place last Sunday.  It was a Titans v Titans clash in the London Unity Football League, with Titans Outwest taking the bragging rights with a comprehensive 6-2 victory over Titans West 5.  Titans next scheduled match is on November 8th when they take on the Yorkshire Terriers from Leeds in a GFSN league match.
