An entertaining game for the neutral saw the Reserves come away from Hemel with a point that should have been all 3.
A poor start saw the young side 2 down after 10 minutes a penalty and poor defending saw a lively Hemel side 2 up before Hampton had created a meaningful attempt on goal. The second goal kicked the side into action and after a good run from JJ, Adam Thomas was on hand to tap home from close range. Jacob Peace and JJ were causing problems on both wings and before half time Joe Bennett scored the equaliser to bring the side deservedly level.
Hampton started the 2nd half as they finished the first and another supreb Peace delivery into the box was finished superbly by Thomas for his second of the game. Hampton continued to be the dominant side and scored their 4th after Bennett chased down a poor backpass and bravely challenged the keeper and saw the ball ricochet into the net. That was Bennetts last action of the game as he had to withdraw with bruised ribs from the challenge. Hampton continued to control the game and looked comfortable until indecision between keeper and defence allowed Hemel to score from should have been a harmless ball over the top. Worse was to come minutes later as an identical ball again caught the Hampton back line and keeper in two minds and the ball ended up in the net for the leveller.
All in all it was a decent performance apart from 10 minutes at the beginning and end of the game. Individual errors continue to be the sides downfall and although a young side they need to start learning from these errors to reach their full potential.
