Hampton & Richmond Borough U18’s lose against Camberley U18’s after a heated game

Hampton was called into action straight away, Matthew Pearse had to clear the ball off the line in the first minute.

Camberley dominated that chances early on and was fortunate to get a penalty. The penalty seemed to be extremely soft. Jack Yelle conceded the penalty. Camberley's Josh Steprey converted the penalty to make it 1-0, sending Hampton keeper Mohamed Oulad Laarbi the wrong way.

Djovady made some great tackles to stop the fast attacking pace of Camberley.

The first chance of the night for Hampton fell to Joe Wotton. His free kick when over the wall but keeper Jack Steele collected it comfortably.

Hampton was fortunate to be 1-0 down by the break. Errors from both Mohamed and Jack Yelle allowed Camberley to get a chance on goal however, both opportunities were missed. The Hampton defence had to be called into action, but vital blocks from Yelle and Matthew Patterson hindered their play.

Half-time came. Hampton had been defending well however lacked in the final third. A half-time substitute happened for Hampton with Benjamin Gyan coming off for Serge Lutumba.

The action kicked off where it left off with Camberley applying the pressure. 10 minutes into the half, Charlie Jaggers came off for Leo Hamblin.

In the 59th minute, Camberley made it 2-0, another goal from Steprey. Following a corner, the ball fell to Steprey in the box, his half-volley shot rattled the bottom of the crossbar and went in.

Hampton managed to get a goal in the 65th minute. Hampton had a good spell with some good set plays from free kicks. Wotton played in a free kick at the back post, Djovady headed it down into the path of Anas Lamti who slotted it home.

A big collision between Mohamed and Steprey saw a long time in which the game stopped. Unfortunately, Mohamed had to be stretched off the pitch due to his injuries. Dom Bombourg was brought in to replace Mohamed.

Bombourg made two greats saves in the last minute of the game, first shot he pushed away, Bombourg got up quickly to save the follow-up shot.

Hampton had a last chance with Hamblin crosses the ball in the box, the following header wasn't connected well, and the keeper collected the ball.

Full time finished 2-1 to Camberley. A deserved victory for Camberley, however, it has to be said how well Hampton played under the circumstances, playing a young squad and playing against 3rd in the league. Hampton just lacked in the final third. Mohamed started feeling better after his collision, all at Hampton wish him a speedy recovery.
