Hemel point 'not good enough' says Dowse

Unexplained added time dismissal of Christian Jolley paves way for even later Tudor equaliser as Hampton drops two points.

The Beavers managed to only come away with a point after going into injury time ahead on this rare Sunday game against Hemel Hempstead Town.

With Jamal Lowe finally on his way to Portsmouth, Dowse kept the same line up that had been beaten at Vauxhall Road six days before.

Hampton were rocked early on as in the 11th minute, Jake Robinson, scorer of the only goal in the previous game, was lost by the defence for a second and being released by a pass from the midfield, finished simply past Bishop onto the bottom corner.

The Beavers almost immediately struck back as 2 minutes later, Brendan Kiernan managed to keep himself onside as the Tudors defence edged forward, and picking up the Nicke Kabamba pass, hit a cool shot past Butler in the visitors goal.

Midway through the half, both teams had a chance within seconds of each other.

Hemel broke forward quickly down the Hampton right, Bishop having to fly out to block the attempt, before the Beavers in return counterattacked, Jolley finding himself in on the left of the box, but he dragged his shot across goal and wide.

Just before the half hour point in the match, Kiernan got his second and gave the Beavers the lead. Cutting in off his right foot. he cracked a shot from the right side of the box that Butler couldn't get near, making it 2-1 Beavers.

Hampton then put the pressure on until the break. Jolley having another chance that Butler had to stand tall to block before Kiernan broke through the offside trap - the Tudors were playing a very high defensive line - forcing the keeper to come outside the box and slide the ball off Brendan's feet before he could really take control of the ball.

Hemel came out with a more positive attitude in the second half and put the Beavers on the back foot right from the start.

Jake Robinson tried to get his second of the day on 52 minutes, but his curling shot didn't do enough to worry Billy Bishop.

Just after the hour, Parkes tried to sneak a free kick round the short side of the wall, but he didn't quite get enough on the attempt to bring it back on target.

A few minutes later, Hemel managed to get a player free at the back post, Kieran Murphy having to stretch out a leg to block the shot as the player had a free sight of goal.

With 15 minutes left though, the Tudors finally broke through down the left hand side of the Beavers defence and Robinson was on hand to shoot past Bishop and get them back level.

The match wasn't level for long. Josh Casey latched onto a long ball from midfield, coming inside the defender, his curling shot from the edge of the box saw Butler having to throw himself to his left to tip the ball wide for a corner.

From the corner, it was only part cleared by Hemel, and Nathan Collier followed up to crash the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards to put the Beavers back in front.

There was still time for some twists in the game, as deep into the 4 minutes of added time, the referee deemed Christian Jolley's innocuous challenge in midfield to be dangerous and promptly dismissed him from the field; the majority in the ground and on the pitch having no idea what had happened to warrant it.

This allowed Hemel to press on, and with seconds to go, the Beavers let Robinson free again; the striker managing to get his head to a cross from the left, it looped high into the air past a stranded Bishop and into the net.

After the match, Dowse was clearly unhappy and said "I have no idea what Christian was sent off for. But we still should've kept them out that late in the game. This wasn't good enough!"
