5-up: Kiernan and Culley go nap...

Hampton keep up positive push in hammering of Oxford City.

Hampton took a deserted 3 points as they were comfortably too much for their hosts.

The Beavers stamped their authority on the match from early on, and took the lead in the 8th minute. Duncan Culley's 25 yd free kick curled over the wall and into the top corner, giving Oxford keeper Craig Hill no chance.

Hampton extended the lead less than 10 minutes later, Culley this time turning provider.

The forward broke down the Hampton right, and beat the covering defenders. Faced with Hill, he played it inside, where Brendan Kiernan had the simplest of finishes from 6 yds out.

Just before the half hour, Culley beat the offside trap, and chased down the long pass. he then managed to get there before Hill and headed the bouncing ball over the advancing keeper, leaving him a neat finish from 18 yards.

In first half added time, Nathan Collier, who after beating two defenders on the left hand side of the box, kept his head and passed inside to find Brendan Kiernan. The midfielder controlled the ball, slipped past another, and lifted the ball over the diving Hill into the net.

In the second half, Oxford City looked more of a threat, but weren't able to make use of it. Their best chance coming on 52 minutes, as Jefferson Louis got on the end of a free kick, however his close range header was beaten away comfortably by Howes.

The Beavers claimed their fifth and Kiernan his third just after the hour as his goal-bound attempt from a Tom Jelley cross took a deflection off the defenders boot to take it past Hill and into the net.

Hampton could have had a sixth goal, as just before the end, Charlie Ten-Grotenhuis clipped a curling shot towards goal from just outside the box, which Hill pushed wide for a corner.

Howes, in the Hampton goal had little to do, and Hampton closed out the game comfortably.

Speaking the following day, Dowse was happy with the week's results. We've had two good results this week, but we'll not be resting, even with only 4 matches to go.

We should have Josh Casey back soon, possibly by the coming weekend, and Leon Solomon by the week after. Both players are important parts of the squad; Josh has been my player of the season and Leon is vital in the midfield and as team captain. They'll want their places back! With the possibility of a couple of cup finals to end the season, there's much to play for still and there'll be no resting.
