Hampton & Richmond Ladies Reserves 1 Sutton United Ladies Reserves 0

A much stronger game from the reserve team see's them take the Win.

The Beavers Reserve team brought a strong squad of 16 to face Sutton United. Unsure of what was in store, the team have been working hard in training to prepare for different outcomes.

11 took to the field with one thought in mind. To win. At first they came under a lot of pressure which the squad rode out to perfection. Stomping out any and all efforts which would have been goal-bound for sure.

Finishing the first half 0-0 with their only effort hitting the woodwork.

The game became much more even in the second half with the beavers adding their own pressure to the game. Their chances were slim with one already hitting the woodwork early in the game, they were determined to get a second opportunity.

The Beavers didn't have to wait long though with a loose ball sent forward from Rachael Hayman found it's way into the path of Taylor O'Brien, who calmly rounded the keeper to slot the ball into an open inviting net.

The remainder of the game was clearly in the beavers hands with the goal advantage and it's always a dangerous time in the game. But the ladies saw off any attempt to equalise with some great last ditch defending to see the game out the match winners. 0-1

2nd team Manager Paul Trowles had this to say:
"It's a great feeling to have our first ever three points on the table, the ladies all played their part no matter how big or small the contribution. We have a great group of players who are all willing to improve & impress. I hope for many many more days to be like this and i'm 100% certain there will be more."

Captain of the team Becky Payne say's:
"I can't put in to words how delighted we are to have gained our first win. The first half we soaked up a ton of pressure and played way too deep, inviting Sutton in to our half way too much. We are still finding our feet and trailing players in new positions. Coming away 0-0 at half time was a result and the team talk really helped us understand our roles for the second half. Our defence played a lot higher and we won possession much more in midfield, giving us more opportunities to play the ball out down the wings. with a great ball in from Rachael and a mistake from Suttons defence, saw Taylor O'Brien clear on goal, it was impossible to miss!. The girls played for each other and right until the last whistle, great display of character and the will to win. Above all it's a great confidence boost ahead of our game next week".

The Ladies take on Wandsworth Borough next on Sunday the 17th at, Hanworth Villa FC, TW13 6PN. 2PM Kick off at Home.
