Beavers raise the Bar in FA Cup

Hampton earn a place in the 3rd qualifying round after a solid display

3 second half goals sent Hampton in the next round of the FA Cup, where they'll face a journey to Cinderford Town on September 30th.

The Beavers were clearly in a much better frame of mind and started positively, with Roberts and Moss drawing early saves from Laurencin, as they started to take a measure of control in the game, spending more time in the Scholars half .

Just after the half hour, Ryan Moss put pressure on the keeper who was chasing a loose back pass. The striker won the ball with Laurencin far out of his goal. but Ryan's curling shot from the angle went into the side netting.

Moss was nearly through with a minute or two to go before the break, but a well timed tackled stopped him from testing the goalkeeper again.

Into the second half, and the Beavers upped the pace as Shaun McAuley's piledriver from 25 yards went just wide as the keeper got a hand to it.

Hampton were not to be denied; Jack Cook had stayed up from the set piece and turned Malachi Napa's cross into the roof of the net following a brief scramble in the box.

It was soon 2-0 to Hampton; just before the hour, Malachi Napa picked up the ball on the left and cut inside. He finally found time and space as he crossed the D on the edge of the box, and fired in a low shot that beat the keeper for pace as it flew into the bottom corner.

Hampton then were never in trouble as they controlled the game, the Scholars never really giving Howes much to do in the Beavers goal.

With the final whistle just a handful of minutes away, Shaun McAuley added the gloss onto the performance as he converted Napa's cross under Laurencin from close range, to give the Beavers a well-deserved and comfortable win.
