Elliott Charles' stunning hat-trick on New Year's Day started the year off right for the Beavers, humbling Middlesex rivals Wealdstone on their own turf.
However, a discussion with the club historian Les Rance has shown that Elliott's debutant hat-track is a rare event in the history of Hampton as a Senior club.
Les has been digging in the records and discovered, to the best of his knowledge, it could be only the second 3 goal performance on debut by a Hampton player.
The only other occurance that he's been able to find happened all the way back in the 60's.
Against BAC Weybridge in the quarter-final of the 1967-68 Southern Combination Cup, Dave Boothman scored three on his first senior appearance in a Hampton shirt, coming out of the reserves for the match back on 27th September 1967.
The match ended with a 3-0 victory for the Beavers that night, but unfortunately they tumbled out of the competition the following May in a 2-0 semi-final replay defeat against Staines Town.
Dave Boothman didn't make many appearances for the Beavers, just 5 in total but scoring 6 times; Les believes that in the following spring, he went on to join Brentford, playing as an amateur at Griffin Park.
